CWJ is committed to the continual investment and maintenance of its IT systems in seeking to maintain a standard of excellence in the service it provides to its clients. This is achieved in the annual overview of the IT infrastructure to provide a stable, reliable platform ensuring that the benefits of this and the introduction of emergent technologies are passed on to the client by way of increased efficiency and in the faster communication of information. Our leading edge IT systems are maintained by our 1st and 2nd line IT support staff with additional 3rd line support from a Microsoft Partner who provide specialist services and support to legal firms.
Our 8 servers run applications including a legal practice management and accounting system with integrated legal forms, a client contact address library and case managements systems, digital dictation, bespoke legal applications, financial management and HR. For client documents Workshare’s Deltaview is used for document generation and comparison.
Security
As we regard the security of client data as critical, we have implemented a network backup-and-restore solution which is regularly tested to ensure that information can be retrieved from media held off site and our Disaster Recovery Plan ensures that all information held can be recovered and restored to servers within 24 hours of a disaster.
One of our servers deploys McAfee antivirus software to scan PC’s and servers on the network 24/7 ensuring that our network, servers and PC’s remain continually protected against viruses. We also have an internal firewall and additional external security using Black Spider web defence and scanning of all incoming and outgoing emails prior to their delivery.
Web technology
We make use of web technology to enable clients who request this facility to access their own secure page on our website where documents and reports can be accessed and amended. We are also in the process of setting up web access for clients to enable access to specific matter-related case management information in order to address their individual needs.
All Fee Earners have access to their Outlook accounts and the legal Practice Management system from any PC with internet access in the world via secure SSL vpn and, in embracing the latest ‘push’ technology available on windows mobile telephones, emails and outlook diaries are available to Fee Earners when out of the office.
