Employment Tribunal Statistics - September 2007

According to the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal statistics there was a 15% increase in the amount of tribunal claims last year (1 April to 31 March 2007), and a total of 132,577 claims.

They also confirmed the average tribunal awards in various different types of claims, including:- unfair dismissal (£7,974), race discrimination (£14,049), sex discrimination (£10,052) and disability discrimination (£15,059).

However, these are only the average awards and although there is a limit to the compensatory award for unfair dismissal claims (£60,600), there is no limit to awards for discrimination.
