ICO publishes case studies to help with Data Protection compliance

The ICO has recently published a set of case studies on its website at www.ico.gov.uk which it hopes will help organisations deal with many common data protection issues.

Each year the ICO handles around 5,000 complaints from members of the public about issues connected with personal information. The ICO comments that many of these cases could have been easily resolved if adequate policies and procedures had been in place.  This highlights how important it is to regularly monitor policies and procedures and to review them to take account of how your organisation collects and processes data and of any new types of data which your organisation may be processing.
