You will prepare the Power of Attorney based on a number of questions and answers. As you work through the documents have in mind the information provided in this guidance note.

On the next page you will start to complete the document. Please note that it is possible to prepare the document without having to pay for it first by clicking the preview box. When you are happy with the document you can pay for it. Your Power of Attorney is then e-mailed to this office. We will then telephone you to discuss your document in more detail. If any changes need to be made we will discuss any additional costs involved before finalising the document.

You can appoint someone to look after your financial affairs should you become mentally incapable of doing so yourself. Failure to do so would mean that your family may need to apply to be your Deputy under the control of the Court of Protection. This will be a much more expensive and time consuming process.

It is important that you choose a trustworthy Attorney. You can also select replacement attorneys if your primary attorney is unable to act. In the case of couples this could be the children.

CWJ can act as your Attorney if you do not wish to appoint anybody else.
