Personal Injury

Uncontrolled Bouncers

If a bouncer or similar employee gets carried away and assaults someone, the owner of the premises may be liable. Recently, however, a nightclub owner was found not to be liable when a bouncer severely injured someone in a fight which took place away from the club’s premises, after an earlier altercation. The link between the bouncer's employment and the subsequent fight was judged too remote to make the employer liable.

Employers can often be held responsible for injuries caused by their employees. It depends on the facts of the individual case.
