CWJ are proud sponsors of Westcombe Park Rugby Club and their 1st XV team who are currently playing in National League 2 South.
The club was originally founded in 1904, and moved to the Orpington area in 1937 and now occupies 23 acres, located at Goddington Dene, next to Goddington Park. The 1st XV pitch has a covered 200 seated stand, and home matches regularly attract over 250 people, but this does not compare to the annual Mini Rugby Festival which has run since 1972, and see crowds of 3-4,000 children and parents attending.
Following a promotion at the end of 2006/ 2007 season the 1st XV finished fourth in National League Two, the highest position the club has ever achieved. Unfortunately, due to the RFU league restructuring the 2008/ 2009 season saw them relegated to National League 2 South.
As well as the 1st XV team, The Tigers, the 2nd team who support the first team, plus 4 other senior teams, where a mixture of older players play along side and help develop the younger players, and then also The Academy (17-18’s), Juniors (13-16), Mini’s (6-12).
Our links go deeper than mere sponsorship, Andrew Wood partner in our personal injury and clinical negligence team plays regularly for the Gents XV, Nick Pace trainee solicitor plays for the 3’s and Nick Gunson, our IT Director’s nephew is currently playing with the 1st XV team.
