About Us

Fundraising for St Christopher's Hospice

St Christopher’s Hospice was Clarkson Wright & Jakes' chosen charity for 2023-2025. We are very proud to have raised in excess of £9,000 for the charity during this time.

St Christopher’s provides specialist palliative care and family care services free of charge for patients from the age of 18 upwards who live in the London boroughs of Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark. St Christopher’s care services are delivered in a range of settings including patients’ own homes, four inpatient wards and their centres in Orpington and Sydenham.

A huge thank you to Edward White, Partner of CWJ and Chairman of the Trustees of The Woodroffe Benton Foundation for donating a grant of £2,000 three times since September 2023 to support St Christopher's. Donations like this are so important to the hospice and means they can continue their amazing work caring for patients and those close to them.

Our fundraisers

    Christmas Jumper Day

    • The team got into the Christmas spirit and wore their Christmas jumpers in aid of our charity.

    Treasure Hunt

    • Clarkson Wright & Jakes has raised £1,200 for St Christopher’s Hospice through a charity treasure hunt held in and around Orpington, supported by clients, referrers and local businesses. As part of the firm’s 150th-anniversary celebrations, teams set off across the town following a trail of clues that led them to some of Orpington’s most recognisable landmarks — from the Saxon Day Centre and All Saints Church to the War Memorial and Village Hall. Each clue revealed another piece of the puzzle, with participants competing in good spirit to reach the finish line. Funds raised from the event will help St Christopher’s Hospice continue its vital work providing compassionate end-of-life care and support for patients and their families across South East London. The event was made possible through the generosity of a number of local companies, whose donations helped CWJ reach the £1,200 fundraising total. Following the client and referrer event, CWJ also organised an internal staff treasure hunt, bringing the same enthusiasm and teamwork into the workplace while keeping St Christopher’s cause front of mind. The treasure hunts form part of CWJ’s wider programme of community-focused initiatives marking its milestone 150th year, reflecting the firm’s ongoing commitment to supporting local charities and making a positive difference close to home.

The Great Orpington Bake Off and Sale

Clarkson Wright & Jakes hosted a charity bake off competition and cake sale in support of the firm's chosen charity, St Christopher's Hospice. The event took place at the Clarkson Wright & Jakes' office in Knoll Rise, Orpington on Thursday 10th October 2024 offering the local community a chance to indulge in sweet treats while contributing to a worthy cause.CWJ Managing Partner, Amanda Mehlin was joined by representatives from the hospice to judge over 20 home made cakes.

The judges were so impressed by all the effort bakers went to and it made judging very difficult indeed, and filling!Congratulations to Liz Baker who won 1st prize for her amazing St Christopher's star creation.

Well done and thank you to all the bakers and everyone that supported the event. We raised an impressive £312! All proceeds benefit St Christopher's Hospice, which provides invaluable end-of-life care and support to patients and their families.
