£14 Million Damages for Biker Paralysed in Road Accident

A man who suffered permanent disability after he was involved in a collision while riding his motorbike has secured substantial compensation.

He sustained a spinal cord injury in the collision and was left with no motor or sensory function below his chest. About a year later he was diagnosed with a post-traumatic spinal cord syrinx, a rare complication of spinal cord injury, which worsened his condition.

He had commenced a personal injury claim shortly after the accident. Interim payments were secured, ensuring that he had access to support and rehabilitation and enabling a prompt investigation of his post-traumatic spinal cord syrinx.

Following extensive negotiations, a settlement of his claim for a lump sum of £14 million was agreed. The settlement includes funds to pay for his future care and equipment needs, suitably adapted accommodation and wheelchair-accessible vehicles.

While nothing can truly compensate those who suffer life-changing injuries, a settlement can ensure that essential care needs are met and help the injured person live life as normally as possible. If you have been injured in a road traffic accident, we can advise you on seeking damages.
