Seven-Figure Settlement for Severely Injured Motorcyclist

A substantial compensation settlement has been secured for a man who suffered life-changing injuries when his motorcycle was hit by a car.

He was riding back from work at night when a car that was involved in a police chase hit him at high speed while travelling on the wrong side of the road. He suffered life-threatening orthopaedic injuries and a traumatic brain injury. He was taken by air ambulance to intensive care and was in hospital for six weeks, where he underwent a number of surgeries.

He was effectively bed bound for six months after his return home and required full-time care. He has experienced ongoing pain, suffers from headaches and amnesia, and has severe anxiety and depression. He is unlikely ever to return to work.

The driver of the car that hit him was not prosecuted, and a claim was therefore commenced against the Motor Insurers' Bureau. A rehabilitation package was put in place and expert medical evidence was obtained. Following hard-fought negotiations, his claim was eventually settled for more than £1 million. The settlement will help to meet his ongoing medical and care needs and has enabled him to obtain suitable local accommodation.
