Six-Figure Compensation for Seriously Injured Cyclist

A significant compensation settlement has been negotiated for a cyclist who was seriously injured in a road traffic accident.

The cyclist was on her way to work when a car travelling in the opposite direction suddenly veered into her path and collided with her. She sustained a head injury with facial and skull fractures, as well as soft tissue injuries to her chest and hip. She also suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and subsequently developed post-traumatic epilepsy.

After she commenced a personal injury claim against the driver's insurer, interim payments were secured to help cover her loss of earnings and pay for rehabilitation. Medical evidence was obtained to provide an assessment of her prognosis.

Court proceedings were issued, following which a negotiated settlement was reached. The cyclist received a six-figure sum in compensation, which will help to pay for her ongoing rehabilitation needs.
