Woman Obtains Compensation for Fall on Steps at Work

A woman in her 70s who suffered a serious shoulder injury after falling down steps at the golf club where she worked has obtained a compensation settlement.

She was dazzled by lights as she was walking down the steps, which did not have a handrail. She lost her footing and fell, sustaining a serious injury to her shoulder which is likely to cause permanent problems. Following the accident, she needed help from her family and friends with domestic tasks. She also experienced psychological injuries.

She brought a claim against her employer. Medical evidence from an orthopaedic surgeon and a psychologist was obtained in support of her claim.

Her employer denied liability for the accident but, after proceedings were issued, an offer to settle her claim for £50,000 was made, which she accepted.
