Sarmad qualified as a solicitor in 2004, having studied law locally at the University of Kent at Canterbury. Prior to joining the Personal Injury Department at CWJ in June 2021 he worked among several of the top tier London based firms exclusively representing injured people with their claims for both clinical negligence and personal injury.

A member of APIL, Sarmad has been accredited as a Senior Litigator and described in the Legal 500 as a leading individual in clinical negligence and “a safe pair of hands”.

Sarmad has a special interest in claims involving amputation and ophthalmic injuries. He has published articles on related topics such as lower limb prosthesis revision and overstretched NHS ophthalmic services and worked in collaboration with national charities like the RNIB and Limbless Association. His recent settlements include a multi-million pound award for the victim of a road traffic accident with a lower limb amputation, a six-figure settlement for a complex spinal case involving cauda equina syndrome and a six-figure settlement for a claim involving failed hip replacement surgery.
